January 1, 2009, we’re giving you another way to reach Medallion status –
segments – or continue to earn status via Medallion Qualification Miles
(MQMs):
Medallion Level 2009 Qualification Requirements
Silver 25,000 MQMs or 30 Qualification Segments
Gold 50,000 MQMs or 60 Qualification Segments
Platinum 75,000 MQMs or 100 Qualification Segments
Unlike on other major airlines, you’ll earn a minimum of 500 MQMs and base
miles per flight. Rack up MQMs beyond the Platinum level and you’ll qualify
for Medallion Threshold Rewards – like additional bonus miles and exclusive
gifts – throughout the year. Look for more information to come in early
2009.
As a Medallion member, you already enjoy complimentary upgrades on Delta,
and Northwest Airlines? as well as waived baggage fees. And you’ll soon
be able to transfer miles between SkyMiles?and Northwest WorldPerks?

New WorldPerks Award Structure
Northwest is introducing a third mileage award level to synchronize award
prices with Delta. The new mileage award requirements will offer three tiers
of award availability and more award travel options in Coach Class.Effective for award tickets issued on/after January 15, 2009, the new award
structure has three tiers starting at 12,500, 20,000, and 30,000 miles for
one-way travel (based on roundtrip purchase) within the US 48, Alaska and
Canada to destinations worldwide. Awards not originating or terminating in
